What is The Gospel Message:
The gospel message, often referred to as the “Good News,” is central to Christian belief and conveys the core message of Christianity.
First, Did you know…
The Old Testament GOD promised to destroy death and the New Testament tells us how he did it?
The Bible is not a dry old history book, it’s a book that tells us:
Why we are Alive
Our purpose for existence
What happens after death
How to find everlasting life
The Bible is the most profound & sold book ever to exist and it explicitly teaches about Heaven and Hell:
Do you believe there is an afterlife?
Do you think there is a Heaven & Hell?
If so, where do you think you are going?
Do you think you are a good person?
Let’s go through the 10 Commandments and see how you would hold up on Judgement day:
Have you ever lied?
Have you ever stolen something regardless of its value?
Have you taken the Lords name in vain?
(Would you use your mom’s name as a cuss word? Of course not because you respect her, but you don’t respect the God that gave you a mother)
Have you had Sex before Marriage?
Have you ever lusted after a Woman/Man OR watched pornography?
I’m not judging you, this is for you to judge yourself – you have told me you are a:
Lying
Thieving
Blasphemous
Fornicating
Adulterer at heart
…. And You have to face GOD on Judgment day…
If GOD were to judge you by his 10 commandments (We looked at 5) are you going to be innocent or guilty…?
Heaven or Hell…?
Common Responses to excusing the 10 Commandments:
“I’m a good person/ I’m Working on myself”
Tell that to a Judge… you should be…
“That was in the Past”
Everything is in the past… Even now, it was in the past…
“Everyone does that/Everyone Sins”
That is exactly the point, we all have sinned
Do you know what Death is According to the Bible…?
Romans 6:23 – ““For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of GOD is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
You have earned your wages – GOD is paying you in Death for your sins
Just like a judge looks at a criminal who has murdered 3 women and he shows him just how serious his crimes are and gives him the Death Penalty because that is his wages, that is what he earned and what is due to him regardless of how good a person he is or if it was in the past or if he will change for the future
Sin is so serious to a Holy GOD that he is paying you in Death for your Sins
The Good News!
The 10 commandments are called the “Moral Law” – You and I broke the Law and Jesus came and paid the fine
That is why his last words were “It Is Finished” right before he died
Jesus Died, Defeated Death and Rose again after 3 days so that we may have Eternal Life with him
Just as if you are in court for a stack of speeding tickets, if someone pays those tickets – The Judge can Legally let you go because someone has paid for them EVEN though you are guilty
Jesus took the WRATH of GOD on the cross and PAID for Every Sin of the world in our place
God can take the death sentence off us even though we are Guilty because Jesus paid the fine in his life’s blood and satisfied GODs anger against our sins and demonstrated how much GOD loves us
The Bible outlines five separate steps of salvation:
#1. Hear the Word
Faith comes through hearing, and hearing comes through the Word of God (Rom 10:17). Until someone hears God’s Word, they are incapable of obeying it.
#2. Believe the Word
It is impossible for someone to become a christian unless they believe that Jesus is the Savior and Son of God (Jhn 20:31, Acts 16:31, Jhn 3:16).
#3. Repent of your sins
‘Repent’ means to ‘change your mind’. That change of mind always involves a change of action as well. Repentance is when we change our mind about what is important and submit ourselves to Jesus and His Word. Repentance is a necessity of salvation (Mk 6:12, Lk 13:5, Lk 15:7).
#4. Confess Jesus to others
If we have sworn our allegiance to Jesus, we must be prepared to publicly confess Him as our Lord. If we won’t confess Jesus before men, He won’t confess us before God (Matt 10:32-33, Lk 12:8-9).
#5. Be baptized in the name of Jesus for salvation.
Many groups baptize people, but very few baptize people for the right reasons. Baptism isn’t merely an “outward showing of an inward faith” or “for membership”. Baptism is what saves us (1 Pet 3:21). Baptism is the point where someone goes from being lost to saved because they are buried and resurrected with Christ (Rom 6:4-5). Baptism is the next logical step in your relationship with Him. (Acts 2:37-38, Mk 16:16, Acts 2:41). There is not a single example of someone becoming a christian without baptism. Baptism is just as necessary as the other four requirements.
After that…
there remains nothing else but to continue your daily relationship with Him and find a faithful congregation to assemble with (Heb 10:24) that teaches God’s Word and God’s Word only and to continue to grow in knowledge and practice of God’s Word (1 Pet 2:2).
